So another update [Jan. 28th, 2011|10:38 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |contemplativecontemplative]

So there were lots of times this week where I wanted to update on smaller insignificant things but I either was not at a computer until later in the day and forgot or when I was at a computer I had other things to do and was not motivated to post.

Am not sure how long I will keep this up as my life does not seem to be that interesting to me, let alone anyone else.

So important points:
1. Diet is having some subtle changes, less chocolate and crisps more fruit low fat milk and trying to cut the cheese down.  Will this accomplish anything who knows.
2. Increased excercise, since we got the exercise bike I have done 5 sessions, trying to regulate to at least 3 a week, and managed to do 10 minutes on the first then increased it to 12 and now 16 minutes last night.  Objective is to get to 30 minutes 3 times a week,  Again not sure how well this will go or if indeed it will make a huge difference to my weight but its a good start.
3. Work remains busy, some changes but for the best.
4. Gerbils are great and always interested in you giving them attention.  Nibbles has a slight amount of hair loss or scab on nose but we think it was the bedding she chewed which may have had something plastic in, it does not appear to be getting worse and improving slightly so not too worred.
5. The cat seems to have started off well with gaining confidence and then found a new hiding place and has barely been out all week.  Trying to encourage her to play and explore but does not seem interested whilst we are around.  Only had her for 2 weeks so she will come around eventually.
6. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend this one and visting Mum the weekend after for birthday presents, the weekends are starting to fill up already for the new few months ahead.
7. My mum got pushed over in town today she fell in the road when she got pushed by a pick pocket making a get away.  Does not sound like it was necessary and does make me angry given she is on her own suffering as her back, legs, chest and arm hurts. She will recover but it did not sound called for and I have respect for other people now to do that to their families but what can you do.  Hopefully no permanent damage.

Not sure what else to say....

Gaming Weekend [Jan. 24th, 2011|10:07 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |calmcalm]

So it started out not a stress free as I had liked.  Woke up on Saturday and had breakfast and the cat decided she was not happy not sure with what as I do not speak her language it could have been a number of things but it resulted in us leaving later than expected and her hiding so well we had no idea where so we had to leave the doors open and hoped the cat did not find the gerbils (I have the feeling that will not be the first or last time).

Weekend of board games was fun, did not play as many as expected but once everyone arrived, chatting, eating and chilling it went well.  Started with Settlers which was only the second time for me, then Betrayal (the new 2nd edition) and they took longer than expected I think but everyone seemed to enjoy it.  Sunday was chilled even more and we only managed a new game called the Hive which kinda like chess in terms of principles but with insects or at least pictures of them, then a couple of games of carcassonne.

Before we knew it time to drive home and then cramming housework in such as cleaning the gerbils out and various other boring bits we all have to do.

Needless to say weekend went far too quickly it was fun apart from the parts I was very ill but that's another story (and unfortunately not alcohol or fun related).  Back to the grindstone this week and it already feels like its grinding oh well time to get in some more relaxing and an early night.

Another Birthday, another week.. [Jan. 20th, 2011|10:38 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |busybusy]

So the birthday came and went and for most part of it, it was just another ordinary day at work, busy and I found myself working far too late into the evening than I intended.  I was very pleased to review facebook messages, posts and texts from various friends which was nice.  Oddly enough I can say I did not get many presents on my actual birthday either because they were given prior or arrangements to see family later on.

This week has been much like last week, working hard but noticable points:
1. The cat seems to be getting more settled and familiar with us. Still not seeing her around much when we are in the same room but clues tell me she likes her bed and sitting on the table in the back room probably watching birds out the window and laying in the sun - when we have some.
2. Since we borrowed the exercise bike from my father-in-law I have been on it twice and done about 10 mins, am proud as getting into a routine and hoping I can build up to being on it longer.
3. Have been not doing a bad job at maintaining cleanliness in house, but as we become busier and out more on evenings and weekends it is not likely to last but will try.
4. The table in the back room is still clear and not accumulating things - maybe its because we know the cat uses it to lie on.  Its a good habit I want to continue.

So it seems to be the little things that make me happy these days, maybe its my age.

The Weekend so far... [Jan. 16th, 2011|01:57 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |relaxedrelaxed]

Friday - was a tricky day at work but ended sooner than expected so I managed to go to the pub with Dan Osb, Toni B, Hayden, John and Rich which was nice as it meant I got to do some necessary chilling after a week at work and felt like I did not miss out on a good opportunity.  Much conversation was had with some hilarious moments, it would be great if it could be a regular thing which I could make.

Saturday - was a chilled start and Rich took me to see Dirty Dancing the musical which was a last minute thing, I have been wanting to see for ages and involved a predinner and Fire and Stone which although they had a big selection of different pizza I went for my favourite of a quattro formaggi which was awesome.  The musical was great a stage version of the film but well done and a few extra scene's and songs some of which I am sure explained to story to those who have not seen the film and added to some more of the characters. Really enjoyed it, I like going to shows for my birthday.

Sunday - Although today is not over I thought I should keep trying to post otherwise I shall forget about it but another chiled start some housework, which also involves playing with our pets and then out to the pet shop to buy more treats and toys to spoil them with.  Dinner with the inlaws tonight which shall be nice and a good chance to catch up and then back to a working week again tomorrow.

All in all not bad and next week we have boardgames which I am really looking forward to.

It's my birthday and I can party if I want to... [Jan. 12th, 2011|10:43 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |weirdweird]

So this approaching weekend, is the closest to my birthday which is on the Monday.  I do not have much enthusiasm for it which is strange for me, might be various other factors.

Its not a good month to have a birthday as anyone else with a similar date will know, most of the time people are giving up alcohol for the month, on a diet, suffering from the big expense of Christmas etc.

I do not have any grand plans but I do not seem to have any specific arrangements so if anyone is around and fancy doing something be it sitting in a pub or something else then please feel free to make suggestions.

I am pretty lazy and we have the cat who is still settling in, so I do not want to do too much which takes us away from home for the whole weekend.

So far... [Jan. 10th, 2011|10:49 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |bouncybouncy]

Well, firstly I have posted to LJ twice (including this post) so I have improved on last year already.

Noticable achievements so far:

1. Constructed a bookcase and made good use of it - well Rich has.
2. Set up our compost bin in the garden - makes me feel more environmentally friendly.
3. Done a load of housework - I include in this putting stuff away/moving it around and hoovering which is impressive for me.
4. Started a 365 photo album on Facebook and kept up with it - which I am surprised about.
5. We have a new pet! It happened quicker than we expected but we adopted an 8 year old black and white female cat called Tipsy.  She is seems to have a nervous temprement but she seems to be content at the moment to sit on one of our dinning chairs and I fully expect her to explore later when we are in bed.

Work seems to have started on a busy note and looks to continue that way for the next few weeks.  I am hoping to keep my head above water and keep one of my new year's resolutions and try to maintain a healthy work/life balance.

I am also setting myself the target of getting to the GP in the next week as my cough and chest do not appear to be improving.

Right thats all from me at the moment I think.

2011 - Life, Universe and Everything... [Jan. 2nd, 2011|11:33 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |contemplativecontemplative]

Its actually been so long since I wrote in my journal 8th July 2009 that I actually do not know what to write.  I think I can safely say that I can promise to post more frequently if I make at least one more post over the next year.  But I guess for the first post in a long time a quick update on elements of my life might be a good start so in no particular order.

Work
Always busy which is good, lots of travelling which is both bad and good depending on numerous variables.  I do not discuss my job in great detail purely because its just not sensible to do given the industry I am in.  So enough said on that.

Home
Rich and I bought a house the same one we have lived in for the past 6 years.  It is not my dream house but the location is great for work and family, the bonus is we saved thecost of estate agents and moving the bad points is that we had no option to redecorate before all of our furniture got put in the house but it will happen one room at a time I am sure we did some urgent jobs in September when we completed so happy with that for the time being.

Money
We bought a house so we now have a large mortgage which we are now repaying, depressingly the mortgage payments are a lot higher that the rent was so you can work it out from there.

Health
Managing with chronic condition and got some new things to worry about along the way.  I think I might be a little boring on this one by again not going into too much detail.  Needless to say I am not the healthiest person but certainly not the sickest person on the planet so I shall be grateful with what I have got and move on.

Roleplay
Tabletop continues which I enjoy, I might return to GMing at some point but given my work/life balance can be rubbish I am not sure if I need to improve this before taking on the responsibility.

LT - Well what can I say, I stopped being an NPC in 2009 and took most of 2010 off. So I tried at the Gathering this year to go back to playing after staffing for 4 years.  I managed to staff longer than playing the hobby which is something I thought I would never do.  Again I am going to be fairly vauge with the details on this one but lets just say various reactions and things changing were mostly expected and then on the other hand very unexpected. I like talking about it but I think I find it hard to articulate it in writing so by all means ask me about it at some point. The only conclusion I am give is NPCing was one of the most rewarding things I did in my life and the most terrible.

Other Hobbies
I got some other hobbies apart from role play which involves things like photography and bowling but I cannot seem to keep up with both for long continuous periods probably because of other things some of which are listed above.  But I enjoy them when I can do them.  I do know I have improved in both of these.

Board Games
Our collection keeps expanding and we seem to have occasions where we get the play them with friends this needs to improve on a more regular basis.

Pets
We own a house so became pet owners to 3 Gerbils called Nibbles (the mother) Jinx and Ginger (sisters).  It feels great to own pets again and I am hoping we can move onto eventually to bigger things like a cat but I love them to pieces and never get tired of watching them.

Friends
We seem to see limited groups at the moment through various activities again some listed above.  We seem to be leaving it far too long to catch up with some but that's life I guess we shall keep trying to improve on this.

Family
Mine are as expected, Rich's have had it tough both parents with serious aliments and hospitals, operations, medication but again other families are in worst situations so we cannot complain much and have been very lucky.

So thats a longer post than expected so not going to carry on much longer but will try and post again at some point.

RSI [Jul. 8th, 2009|12:51 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |distresseddistressed]

So finally went to doctors yesterday and they suspect I am suffering from RSI which could be work related.  The advice at present is to rest the wrists and take Ibuprofen and go back in two weeks time for blood tests if situation has not improved.

This is the most I have typed all day so far and will NOT be actively doing it out of work for a while by the look of things.  Will still trying checking emails but for the moment best method of contact is calling me.

Favour needed for Elvas.... [Apr. 14th, 2009|09:58 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |stressedstressed]

Not time to do an update post.

Anyone going to the Elvas event on Friday who can turn up before time in and provide a bell tent or something of a similar size which can fit upto 6 people being in it (not for sleeping) including other bits and pieces.

Or anyone travelling to the event who is able to pick up from Rugby a 4ft x 4ft tent which includes several poles 6ft long and some canvass.

Again ideally able to get it to site for the Friday afternoon.

If anyone is able/willing to help then please email me at hopesunstone@yahoo.com

Cheers

Its been a busy week [Jan. 23rd, 2009|10:37 pm]
Sue
[Current Mood |crazycrazy]

So I turned 30 on Saturday 17th January and what a fun weekend it was...

Friday saw me generally chilling and welcoming talking_dog and helenfin come all the way from Cardiff and the evening involved fun games and some alcohol.

Because plans were afoot for Saturday we decided I could open presents after midnight which was great and involved a lot of nice stuff which included, Tension (a good game indeed), Tea 4 2 set, Order of the Stick T-shirt 'Its a little something I like to call Roleplaying', books on photography and Tomb Raider for the Wii and Adopt a Pony giftset.

That night I must add was the best nights sleep I have had in over 7 months as I was able to sleep solidly for 7 plus hours without waking up which was utter bliss.

Saturday saw me up and bouncing around fairly early given it was the weekend and headed into town with sallyf  and xavin to see Phantom of the Opera with wyzziwig however, traffic was awful when they closed the M4 which mean we were a tad late but it did not really stop my enjoyment of the show as I really liked being reminded of the songs and seeing the cunning set changes.  It was also one of the few shows which had me welling up at the end.

Afterwards involved us seeing talking_dog and helenfin for dinner at Saratros for some good food then home to play more games and drinking.

Sunday was a slow start and unfortunately Saturday night depsite trying to use alcohol to get a good nights sleep did not work and therefore fell back into the same sleeping pattern. People chatted played more games and then finally made a move at which point it was over to Mother in Law's for a spot of tea and a catch up.

Hope everyone had an ejoyable weekend I certainly did and this weekend involves seeing my mother for more birthday presents and celebrations before finally coming back down to earth and working out next week and crunching figures to see how feasible it is to stay in employment when they transfer my job to Oxford.
